Script written by Ty Richardson“Dragon’s Dogma” features a plethora of epic boss battles that help make it a legendary RPG! For this list, we'll be looking the toughest bosses in the Capcom title, whether they're part of the main story or a side quest. Our list includes the Elder Ogre, Archydra, Daimon, Prisoner Gorecyclops, and more! With “Dragon’s Dogma II” having been announced, tell us what you’re looking forward to the most in the long-awaited sequel down in the comments.

Garm

Now, we know that these vicious wolves are not bosses in the same vein as, say, a cyclops can be. However, battles with them can feel like a boss fight, especially when exploring Bitterblack Isle in an irresponsible and murder-happy manner. As corpses pile up in this area, so does the Garm’s spawn rate, and they will make your exit way harder than it needs to be! These puppos are able to spew out a noxious mist that can blind your character, and their bites are incredibly difficult to block. Best make sure you have some strong pawns with you while venturing into Bitterblack Isle.

Archydra

Hydras are already a pain to deal with, at least when your numbers are small. And remember - this is a Hydra. Hydras can regenerate heads. So, you need to finish them quickly or else you’re back to Square One. On top of that, each head of the Hydra acts independently, meaning you’re basically fighting four beasts at the same time. But what makes the Archydra harder? Shockingly, it’s not a huge difference. It utilizes the same attacks as a regular Hydra, but it boasts higher defense and higher attack power. If you don’t have at least one pawn in your group, you might find yourself in a bind before long.

Evil Eye

We would have considered the enormous Gazer instead, but once you knock it from the sky, Gazer is kind of child’s play. No, the Evil Eye is a much tougher opponent. What you have is a monster mage that has great prowess in its offense and defense. Throughout the fight, the Evil Eye will assault you with fire, ice, and lighting-based attacks, and will even try to overwhelm you by shoving its tentacles through various portals in the area. Try to catch it after it casts a spell or get a clean shot at its eye, and you’ll be able to inflict double damage.

Elder Ogre

Ogres can already be a bit cumbersome to face in some scenarios, but the Elder Ogre is a bigger nightmare. Whereas a regular Ogre holds a plethora of weaknesses and vulnerabilities, the Elder Ogre’s list of weaknesses is remarkably shorter. Sure, you can still inflict poison, use lightning -based attacks, or force it into a slumber, but the Elder Ogre is highly resistant to fire and holy attacks. And like the Garm, they are attracted by rotting corpses, so it may be best to not slay every single thing in certain areas. Also, it gets excited when seeing a male character for some reason. So, dudes, you might wanna keep your party varied.

Living Armor

Admittedly, the Living Armor’s difficulty is very situational as it depends on what kind of character build you’re going for. This isn’t exactly a creature that you can just walk up to and start wailing on. You’re dealing with LIVING ARMOR. You are attacking sentient metal. So, physical attacks are not going to work here. This is where Fighter players may have some trouble as the Fighter is a class based on physical attacks. Regardless of the class you’re playing as, you absolutely must invest a bit in your magic abilities. Otherwise, the only way you’ll get past the Living Armor is by having a complete squad of mages.

Cursed Dragons

Okay, can I just take a minute to say the dragon fights in this game are freakin’ phenomenal!? We’ll get to a particular dragon here soon, but for now, we want to focus on the Cursed Dragons. If you want your equipment to be dragonforged, fighting these beasts in Bitterblack Isle is the best way to go about. Just know that the fights will be challenging! Cursed Dragons have a specific weak point on their chests and can inflict poison and Curse on you with a single breath. Not only that, but its breath will also cause perishable items to rot faster. That said, bring plenty of antidotes to quickly cure yourself, and maybe leave the food behind in favor of bringing stronger, more potent items to recover health.

Prisoner Gorecyclops

The cyclops and gorecyclops can already bring you a world of hurt if you’re not careful. However, the Prisoner Gorecyclops (or Condemned Gorecyclops, if you prefer), is almost a completely different beast in terms of how you need to approach it. This isn’t just a bigger version of the already-enormous gorecyclops, which you can easily run past and not have to fight in some situations. The Prisoner variant is armored up and much easier to enrage. Ankle-biting isn’t exactly a viable tactic here either as its feet are almost covered by metal plating. No, you’ll need to do a bit more climbing before you start going ham on it. Just know that you can’t put it to sleep, curse it, or turn it into stone. It can be poisoned, though.

Death

Usually, we’d label Death as the hardest boss on the list considering how tough he is in the many other games that personify Death. That isn’t to say he’s a cakewalk - just that it isn’t as difficult as some might describe it to you. See, Death doesn’t have a convoluted pattern of attacks or anything. It's just that his scythe can kill you in a single blow, and he can make your demise quick by putting you to sleep with his lantern. You’ll need to find a way to climb onto him and start landing blows to the head. Granted, Death doesn’t die, but it’ll be enough to get him off your back for a while. But don’t be surprised if he dips after wiping your pawns off the face of the Earth.

Daimon

Good lord, Daimon can be an arduous foe, but dammit if this boss fight isn’t freakin’ awesome! If you couldn’t tell by his bulk, yes, Daimon hits hard with vicious punches and kicks, and keeping your distance is not going to be the ultimate life-saver. He can also utilize a vast number of spells to attack from a distance, some of which can take up a ton of space or even limit your mobility. Thankfully, he does have a few vulnerabilities that might be useful to you. You can inflict poison and debuff his defense stats, and when he reaches his Awakened form, he’s weak to holy-based attacks. So, new players, make a mental note!

Balsac

Okay, we can’t even make this joke entry with a straight face, but it’s hilarious to see him talk sh*t only for us to absolutely DESTROY him. You beyond-kill him!

Ur-Dragon

The dreaded Ur-Dragon (moreso the online version) just might be one of the hardest endgame bosses to ever exist. “Just how hard is he?”, one might ask. Well, how hard do you think a boss could be when their HP can reach a value of THREE BILLION? Ask anyone in the “Dragon’s Dogma” community, and they will all tell you the same thing about how to prepare your fight against the Ur-Dragon. You will need insanely high-level gear, and you will need a full party of real players who know the ins and outs of “Dragon’s Dogma” in order to stand a chance. Otherwise, you are going to be in this fight for a really long time, making minimal progress. God help us if Capcom puts another one of these kinds of bosses in “Dragon’s Dogma II”...and we all know they will.
