How to Get a Frost Dragon in Adopt Me (2024)

The Frost Dragon is one of Adopt Me’s rarest pets, belonging to the Legendary category. It was a limited release, only available during the December 2019 Christmas update. After January 2020, the Frost Dragon was no longer available for purchase.

Even though the 2019 Christmas Event is long over, there is still a way to get Frost Dragons in Adopt Me. Players can trade for pets, including the rarest ones. Read on to find out more about trading for this limited-edition beast.

How to Get a Frost Dragon

For posterity, we’ll also include the original method of getting the Frost Dragon in the Christmas Event of 2019. The Frost Dragon is a Gamepass pet, which meant that players had to spend 1,000 Robux in the event shop to purchase one.

There aren’t any special missions or quests you had to play to get a Frost Dragon. All you needed was to spend the 1,000 Robux you saved or bought with real-world money. Therefore, you’ll have to trade for it to get your hands on one after January 2020.

As the Frost Dragon is difficult to get, you’ll have to trade for it with something equal or superior in value. Often, this means you’ll have to give up some of your rarest pets.

Some pets you might offer are:

  • Golden Unicorn

  • Golden Dragon

  • Golden Ladybug

These four are pretty close to the Frost Dragon in value, as they’re also challenging to obtain. However, unlike the latter pet, all four of these pets are obtainable no matter the season. The reason is that the first three are hatched from Golden Eggs, while the Golden Ladybug is from a different source.

When players log in every day for 180 days straight, they’ll get 660 Stars. At the same time, they’ll also receive the Golden Egg. If you get the Golden Egg for the first time, you’ll get a Diamond Egg after another Star Reward cycle.

The cycle resets, letting you gain another Golden Egg after a year. The first three Golden pets we mentioned all hatch from this egg, and there’s a 33.3% chance for each of them to hatch. If your seller is willing to trade a Frost Dragon for your Golden pet, you can agree to the trade and walk away happily.

On the other hand, the Golden Ladybug can be obtained via buying a Diamond Lavender. The item has a 10% chance of taming a Golden Ladybug. It only costs 199 Robux compared to the Frost Dragon’s 1,000, but the chances of getting one are far lower.

If you have even rarer pets, such as the Diamond Ladybug, you’ll find it easier to trade for a Frost Dragon. Neon or Mega Neon versions are precious pets, too, due to the time, effort, and cost of creating them. Offering a Mega Neon Golden Ladybug will likely convince the other player to agree to the trade.

Looking for Trades

The best places to look for trades are subreddits on Reddit and the Roblox website. If you make a post saying you want a Frost Dragon, players may notice and make offers. After that, it’s time to negotiate and come to an agreement.

You might also meet someone in-game, but that takes longer than an online forum. Thus, we recommend heading to online communities where Adopt Me players congregate.

Other Possible Pets You Can Offer

The pets we mentioned above are only a few of many potential offerings you can trade with for Frost Dragons. Many pets aren’t Legendaries, but they’re still pretty difficult to get. If you have one or more of these, you can consider bartering for a Frost Dragon with them.

You might notice that some of these pets are limited event creatures as well. The Snow Owl and Arctic Reindeer are even from the same event as the Frost Dragon. If you don’t want these pets, maybe you can get a Frost Dragon in trade if you offer multiples in the deal.

The Capybara and Flamingo come from previously available Gumball Machine Eggs. As these eggs are now also unobtainable, even their most common pets can fetch a high price. These two pets aren’t Legendaries, but they’re already close in value to the Frost Dragon.

As an Uncommon pet, the Capybara wouldn’t be worth this much if it wasn’t a drop from the Jungle Egg. This egg is the second one anyone could get from the Gumball Machine, and it hasn’t been in circulation since November 2019.

If you don’t want to trade your pets away, there’s a toy worth slightly more than a Frost Dragon. It’s called the Tombstone Ghostify, only obtainable from the 2018 Halloween event. It’s a Rare Toy that is also equal in value to the Blue Dog from the Blue Egg.

There are many other creatures you can offer, though these are the ones closest in value.

Frost Dragons

A Frost Dragon resembles the Shadow Dragon, though it has light blue scales, unlike the latter’s dark and scary appearance. Its eyes are also pastel blue, and you can see light-blue particle effects coming out of its maw.

Even so, the Frost Dragon isn’t a reskin of a Shadow Dragon. It doesn’t have an exposed ribcage. However, it does have more spikes jutting out of its back than the black creature.

Like the Shadow Dragon, this creature also has some unique tricks:

  • Dive (Post-Teen)

  • Frost Breath (Full Grown)

At each stage, a Frost Dragon learns one new trick. The first four tricks are universal actions pets can pick up, but Dive and Frost Breath are different. The Shadow Dragon can do Dive, though instead of Frost Breath, it knows Shadow Breath.

As with many pets, the Frost Dragon also has Neon and Mega Neon versions. You’ll have to spend lots of Robux before getting them, however. Like other Neons and Mega Neons, the process involves merging several Frost Dragons or Neon Frost Dragons.

The Neon Frost Dragon glows light blue in several parts of its body, like the wings, spikes, horns, feet, and teeth.

On the other hand, the Mega Neon Frost Dragon may be more interesting to players. It used to cycle between glowing blue and white. Nowadays, like many other Mega Neons, the colors now include the rainbow.

Not many other pets have custom skills like these two dragons, making them a special pet once you get your hands on one.

Additional FAQs

Will the Frost Dragon Return in the Future?

The chances of this happening are improbable. Discontinued or limited pets in Adopt Me rarely ever return, if ever. Thus, your best bet in getting a Frost Dragon in 2021 and beyond is to trade for one.

How Rare Is a Frost Dragon in Adopt Me?

Frost Dragons rank near the top of the scale, as they were only available during the Christmas Event of 2019. They also cost 1,000 Robux to obtain, which not everyone was willing or able to pay. Today, it takes a valuable pet or more to trade for one from other players.

Can You Still Get Frost Dragons?

No, you can’t unless you trade with someone who has one. Nevertheless, the Frost Dragon will likely cost you an arm or a leg. After all, the supply is permanently cut off and will never return.

Are Shadow Dragons Rarer Than Frost Dragons?

Yes, due to Shadow Dragons being older than Frost Dragons. Mega Neons coming into the picture also made Shadow Dragons more valuable. What’s more, even though Frost Dragons are rare, more players bought them than people who purchased Shadow Dragons.

You can trade for a Frost Dragon using a Shadow Dragon, but only if you feel comfortable with the price.

That’s Some Chilly Breath You Got There

Once a Frost Dragon grows up to the sixth stage, it learns how to breathe frost. If you’re lucky enough to trade for one at a lower price, we rejoice with you. For those who don’t have a Frost Dragon, you might have to find someone willing to trade your rare pets.
