In this Elden Ring Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot guide, we’ll tell you how to use this item to earn extra runes, and we’ll also explain the steps you’ll need to find the Cookbook to craft your own Gold-Pickled Fowl Feet (Foots?).
A Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot is a consumable items that gives you a temporary boost to the number of runes you collect. Using one before setting off on a rune farming quest will earn you about 30% more runes for your trouble.

Consuming a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot will earn you roughly 30% more runes for about three minutes. Drop them into your hotbar — or your Quick Pouch — or use one straight out of your Inventory to gain this benefit.
Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot crafting recipe
To craft your own Gold-Pickled Fowl Feet, you’ll have to put in a bit of work. First, we have to head into a dungeon to meet an NPC, follow them into Liurnia, and finally buy a new cookbook.
We’ll start at Murkwater Cave in East Limgrave. As you arrive, you’ll get invaded by Bloody Finger Nerijus. Dispatch them, and then head inside Murkwater Cave. Deal with the Highwaymen inside, and make your way to the boss fight arena.
This boss fight doesn’t work like others. Once you’re through the fog wall, head over to the campsite and open the chest there (and pick up the Cloth Garb and Trousers inside). This triggers Patches the Untethered to attack. Once you get his health about halfway down, he’ll surrender. Stop attacking and wait for a second. You’ll receive a Golden Rune and the Grovel for Mercy emote. Choose to “Forgive and forget” when you get the prompt.
Patches will head to the Scenic Isle site of grace in southern Liurnia. Visit him there, and he’ll be a merchant. He’ll sell you Gold-Pickled Fowl Feet for 600 runes each and the Missionary’s Cookbook [2] for 800 runes.
This gives you the recipe for a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot in your Item Crafting menu. You’ll need 3 Rowa Fruit, 1 Four-Toed Fowl Foot, and 1 Gold Firefly.
- You’ll find Rowa Fruit everywhere — it’s the red fruit on bushes and it’s hard to miss.
- Four-toed Fowl Foots are “found by hunting birds” — we like hunting the auk-like ones on beaches because they tend to gather in larger numbers.
- Gold Fireflies are “found near waters close to Minor Erdtrees.”
